Sticholotis hoabinhensis Hoàng

Sticholotis hoabinhensis Hoàng, 1982: 96.

Diagnosis. Sticholotis hoabinhensis is similar to S. laeta Weise, 1902 in general appearance, but based on Weise’s description and illustrations of the type specimen provided by Hoàng (1982), it can be distinguished from S. laeta by black pronotum and wide black outer band on elytra (Fig. 23). In S. laeta, pronotum is yellow and outer band of elytra is narrow.

Description. TL: 2.31–2.57 mm, TW: 2.14–2.31 mm, TH: 1.29–1.58 mm, TL/TW: 1.08–1.11; PL/PW: 0.43– 0.46; EL/EW: 0.89–0.93; HW/TW: 0.36; PW/TW: 0.60.

Head dark brown, with mouthparts brown. Pronotum and scutellum black. Elytra with disc yellow to red and margins black (Figs 23–25). Body underside dark brown, legs brown.

Body almost circular in outline, hemispherical, shiny and glabrous. Head frontal punctures fine, 1.0–2.0 diameters apart, with short sparse setae. Interocular distance 0.60x head width (Fig. 23).

Pronotum transverse, surface shining, punctures fine and sparsely distributed, separated by 1.0–4.0 diameters. Elytral punctures very fine and shallow, similar to those on pronotum, 2.0–4.0 diameters apart, with a row of large dark punctures near suture. Lateral margins of elytra narrow, visible from above.

Prosternum with fine and inconspicuous punctures, with scattered long setae. Mesoventral finely punctuate, 0.5–2.0 diameters apart, with several setae. Metaventrite shiny and broad, covered by coarse punctures distributed at center. Elytral epipleuron broad and complete to apex, foveate to accommodate femoral tips of hind legs. Wings well-developed.

Male genitalia: Penis short, capsule moderately large, apex with a thin blunt sclerotized appendage and a membranous appendage, boot-shaped (Fig. 140); tegmen with penis guide in lateral view almost straight, widest at base, gradually narrowing to apex, apex slight curved, about 1.25x paramere length (Fig. 141); in ventral view parallel-sided in basal 6/7, then tapering to apex (Fig. 142); parameres very thin, with several setae.

Female genitalia: Ovipositor slender, styli inconspicuous, with several setae (Fig. 143).

Specimens examined. China, Yunnan: 2males, 3females, same data as holotype; 1male, Gaoligongshan National Natural Reserve, Tengchong, [24°59.92′N, 99°5.03′E], ca 2000m, 9.v.2008, Wang XM et al. leg. (SCAU); 3females, Mengdui, Zhenkang, [23°54.62′N, 98°53.37′E], ca 1000m, 18.v.2008, Wang XM leg. (SCAU); 1male, Gongxin, Menglian, [22°11.86′N, 99°22.11′E], ca 1500m, 8.v.2008, Wang XM leg. (SCAU).

Distribution. China: Yunnan new distribution; Vietnam.
