Arrenoseius gambogi El-Banhawy & Knapp 2011, n. sp.

Material examined. Holotype female, Mt. Kenya, Gachurimi, Embu side, altitude 1993 m, July 17, 2004 (El-Banhawy).

Female: Dorsal shield heavily sclerotised, 325 long, 195 wide. Measurements of dorsal setae: j1 21, j3 32, j4, j5 10, j6 23, J2 25, J5 7, z2 21, z4 62, z5 10, Z1 35, Z4 85, Z5 72, s4 78, S2 46, S4, S5 25, r3 41, R1 36, JV5 36. Peritrematal shield fused anteriorly with dorsal shield, reaching level of j1. Sternal shield reticulated, posteriorly concave, distances between St I-St III 53, and St II-St II 67, St IV on platelets. Genital shield reticulated, 90 wide. Ventri-anal shield reticulated, 106 long, 92 wide (L/W ratio 1.1: 1), with a pair of elliptical pre-anal pores close to each other and three pairs of pre-anal setae (JV1, JV 2, ZV2). Two pairs of metapodal platelets, two pairs of sigillar sclerites and four pairs of setae surrounding ventri-anal shield. Fixed digit of chelicera with ten teeth, movable digit with two teeth. Spermatheca calyx 23 long, swollen basally, slightly constricted distally, atrium forked, 5 long, 3 wide, with 2 lips at junction with major duct. Macrosetae, Sge II 16, Sge III 16, Sge IV 46, Sti IV 35, St IV 74. Chaetotaxy: genu II 2, 2 / 0, 2/0, 1, genu III 1, 2 /1, 2/0, 1.

Remarks. This species is similar to A. cavei Chant & McMurtry. The shape of genital and ventri-anal shields, pre-anal pores, and the lengths of Z1, S2 separate these species. The male is unknown.
