Rhotana truncata Zelazny & Webb 2011, sp. nov.

Description. Forewings 2.0 times longer than wide, length about 5.6 mm. Colour stramineous to light brown. Forewings not powdered, faintly infuscated, interrupted by clear areas, slightly darker in a mark distad of clavus apex and in a V-shaped band from last subcostal sector to base of Ms3 and to 2nd subcostal sector; a red mark around base of last subcostal sector and apex of Sc; 2nd subcostal sector and surrounding veins, apical margin, and anterior apical cross-veins and surrounding veins red; remaining veins stramineous. Hindwings with three brown-black marks around apices of Ms1, Ms2, and claval vein. Pygofer of male genitalia with a pair of prominent, lateral projections. Genital styles elongated, a small hump between dorsal processes. Aedeagus short, apical part truncated, without processes.

Etymology. The species name is a Latin participle (truncatus, -a, -um = truncated).

Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 5.6 mm), MALAYSIA: NORTH BORNEO; labels: 1) N. BORNEO / BETTOTAN/ NR. SANDAKAN/ Aug. 2nd 1927 1A) C.B. K. & H.M.P./ F.M. S./ Museums 2) Ex F.M.S. R6 / Museum / B.M. 1955-354 (BMNH).

Distribution. North Borneo.

Diagnosis. Rhotana truncata resembles closely R. hirashimai sp. nov., also from Borneo. It can be separated from that species by the forewings bearing a clearly defined, although faint mark distad of the clavus tip and by the male aedeagus lacking a pointed terminal process.
