TYPE SPECIES: Tomomyza anthracoides Wiedemann, 1820, by original designation (on plate).
CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [teste Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 288)].
FAMILY: BOMBYLIIDAE.
REMARKS: The original type designation is made by virtue of the plate legend indicating that the figure is of the type of the genus.
