ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Bombylius compressus Fabricius, 1805.

TYPE SPECIES: Bombylius compressus Fabricius, 1805, by original designation (on plate).

CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Amictus Wiedemann, 1817 [teste Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 229)].

FAMILY: BOMBYLIIDAE.

REMARKS: The original type designation is made by virtue of the plate legend indicating that the figure is of the type of the genus.

EMENDATIONS: Thlypsomyza Rondani, 1863: 72 (unjustified).
