Description
Ophion mocsaryi Brauns, 1889: 89. Lectotype ♀ from Hungary in HMHN, examined.
Material examined: IRAN: 1♀, Semnan Province, Shakhmirzad area, Chasm env. 35˚49’N, 53˚15’E 2200 m. a. s., 14 Jun. 2009, A. Klimenko leg. (MR); 1♀, Elburz Geb. Südseite, 30 km N. of Teheran, 1800 m. a. s., 27 Aug. 1971, Vartian leg. (OÖLM).
Remarks: This species belongs to a species group of closely related species commonly treated under the name Ophion mocsaryi Brauns. The here treated species fits with the interpretation presented by Johansson & Cederberg, (2019). However, one should be aware that the presumably aggregate nature might call for future adjustements in nomenclature. The species was only recently properly defined (Johansson & Cederberg 2019) and any references in literature preceeding that date of publication may refer to any closely related and similar species.
