Description
24) Phortica (Ashima) foliacea (Tsacas & Okada, 1983)
Amiota (Phortica) foliacea Tsacas & Okada, 1983: 233.
Phortica foliacea: Chen et al., 2005b: 420.
Phortica (Ashima) foliacea: Chen & Máca, 2012: 507.
Diagnosis. Arch on anterior margin of aedeagal sheath narrow, less sclerotized; postgonites small; posterior one only on either side; anterior ones articulated to tips of arch, slightly curved inward, subequal in size (“Figs 13, 14” in Tsacas & Okada 1983).
Supplementary description (not repeating characters common to P. semiannulata). Supracervical setae 15– 16. Longest, dorsal branch of arista as long as longest seta on pedicel; apical, leaf-like expansion triangular, slightly narrower than long. Cibarial, posterior sensilla 7–8 per side. All tarsi with gray tarsomeres IV and V.
The antisymmetry is observed in the postgonites: in A-type, the posterior postgonite only on the right side; but in B-type, only on the left side.
Specimens examined. Taiwan: 1♂ (A-type) 2♂ (B-type), Shanlinxi, 16.x.1992, M.J. Toda leg. (SEHU); 2♂ (A-type) 1♂ (B-type), Chitou, 21–22.iv.1997, M.J. Toda leg. (SEHU).
Distribution. Taiwan.
Remarks. This species resembles P. semiannulata in having the anterior, more or less inward oriented postgonites articulated to tips of sclerotized arch on the anterior margin of aedeagal sheath, but can be distinguished from it by the diagnostic characters.
