Description

Phortica (Phortica) liukuni Gong & Chen, sp. nov.

(Fig. 35)

Diagnosis. This species is somewhat similar to P. psi (Zhang & Gan, 1986) in the male terminalia, but can be distinguished from the latter by having the aedeagal median rod with 1 pair of lobe-like, distally slender but not bifurcated processes submedially (Fig. 35C).

Description. Frons dark black above, brown below. Face brown. Gena and postgena black. Mesoscutum, pleura, and scutellum yellowish brown, with dark brown patches and pollinose pattern. Male terminalia (Fig. 35): Epandrium pubescent anteroventrally, with ca. 7 setae on posterolateral portion per side (Fig. 35A). Surstylus basally with pubescence on outer surface, with several wedge-like prensisetae on apical margin and inner surface (Fig. 35B). Posterolateral lobe of hypandrium undeveloped and lacking pubescence (Fig. 35C). Paramere with sparse pubescence subapically; apical process with 1 sensillum and 3 teeth; medial process somewhat triangular; basal process with 1 sensillum (Fig. 35C).
