Pila hollingsworthi

Authors/Creators

Description

hollingsworthi

Pila (Pomacea) hollingsworthi Pain, 1946. Revised detail of type material — paratype: NMW.Z.1981.118.00232 [incorrectly listed by Cowie & Thiengo (2003: 66) as NMW.Z.1981.118.00198].

Additional remarks. NMW.Z.1981.118.00232 has “ paratype ” written in ink on the shell and has an operculum. It also fits the measurements in the original description closer than does NMW.Z.1981.118.00198. Although the label of the latter has “ paratype ” written on it, this is a modern NMW label on which Pain would have written the information before donating the specimen to the museum in the early 1980s. This specimen is now considered an author’s topotype.

insularum

Ampullaria insularum d’Orbigny, 1835. Updated status of type material — lectotype (Hayes et al. 2012: 730): NHMUK 1854.12.4.313.

Remarks. See comments under maculata Perry regarding synonymy.

knorrii

lamarckii

Ampullaria Lamarckii Philippi, 1852. Additional detail of type material —possible syntype: MNHNCL 15886 (1 spm., old number 61.040).

levior

Ampullaria levior G.B. Sowerby III, 1909. Additional type material — syntype RBINS MT 1151 (1 spm.).

linnaei

Ampullaria Linnaei Philippi, 1852. See Incertae sedis in family Ampullariidae, above.
