Description
Verbascum cheiranthifolium var. asperulum (Boiss.) Murbeck (1933: 277)
V. asperulum Boissier [1844: 57]; V. cylindraceum Freyn & Sintensis ex Freyn [1894: 295].
Syntypes:—[Turkey C2 Denizli] in collibus calidis regionis montanae parcius, inter Yenidje (Yenice) et Gheyra (Geyre), Boissier (G); [CI Aydin] in vallibus Mesogis (Cevizli Da.) circa Derwend, vi 1842, Boissier (G).
Notes:—This taxon has not been recorded previously from Iran; we report it from northwest Iran in Azerbaijan in this paper (Fig. 1). As noted below, Verbascum cheiranthifolium var. asperulum differs from var. transcaspicum on its calyx size and capsule shape (Fig. 4)
