FIGURES 10–15. SEM micrographs of the sternum valve of Cocconeis sawensis sp. nov. Fig. 10, external view of the SV. Fig. 11, internal view of the valve with the raised and thick sternum. Figs 12,13 external view showing valve curvature, and vestigial raphe structures. Fig. 14, enlarged part of the internal side showing slightly elevated axial area. Fig. 15, internal side with the valvocopula still attached. Note the presence of a pore-like structure on one apex and the eccentric valvocopula opening.
