Practicing care-full scholarship in research, education, & collaboration: An analytical framework

  • 1. University of Padova

Description

In this working paper, I propose Version 1.0 of an analytical framework aimed at critically reflecting upon care-full scholarship. The framework consists of several analytical questions that scholars can use to reflect upon their practices in three contexts of engagement: research-driven participatory work, teaching, and inter- and trans-disciplinary collaborations (oriented towards community building and net-weaving). The framework is inspired by care ethics literature and feminist and relational theories, and is informed by recent debates within the academic community regarding the need to re-think and re-orient our practices towards a care-full model of scholarship.

Version 1.0 of the framework is the result of an iterative learning process, which is currently ongoing. The framework will be further adapted, via a process of co-creation aimed at producing a joint publication on care-full scholarship. The process involves a working group of several co-authors from different academic institutions, who will work on the framework over the coming months, and make sense of it through empirically-grounded reflections.
