Effectiveness of Student-Centered Teaching Method on Students Learning Outcome; Role of Teachers Self-Efficacy; Perception Senior High School Teachers in the Accra Metropolis

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of student-centered teaching method on students learning outcome; role of teachers’ self-efficacy; perception senior high school teachers in the Accra metropolis. A close-ended questionnaire was used to collect the data for our analysis. A total of 200 questionnaires were returned and used for further analysis. IBM SPSS 25 and IBM AMOS 20 software were used to analyze the survey data. The study found that teachers moderately preferred to use collaborative, co-operative, problem-solving, activity-based, role-playing, brainstorming, field trips, projects, debate, demonstrations and simulations student-centered teaching methods in teaching students in senior high school in the Accra Metropolis. The study further found that the use of student-centered teaching produces significant benefits to students such as helps students to have in-depth understanding of subject matter; helps students to acquire inventive problem-solving skills; helps students becomes leaners of knowledge and not rote memorizers and helps students to have a higher and longer retention level. Using the SEM, it was revealed that there is a significant positive effect of student-centered teaching method on teachers’ self-efficacy in the Accra metropolis
