Old type catalogue. Weidner (1960), p. 62, No. 12. Holotype and paratypes (number not specified).

Type status. Attems (1903b) did not state the number of specimens in his description. Weidner (1960: 62) listed a holotype from Corral and 1 paratype from Valparaíso which are reinterpreted here as syntypes.

Additional type material. Type material, including microscope slides, from South America, Chile: Valdivia, Estancielle (coll. W. Michaelsen; NHMW no. 6139) and Corral (coll. L Plate October 1894, don. L. Plate; no. 6140) are held at the NHMW. These specimens are also syntypes. Ilie et al. (2009: 21–22) noted: “revised by Ralph E. Crabill, who prepared the microslide. Two further female syntypes from Corral, collected by Ludwig Plate, are stored in the ZMB (Moritz & Fischer 1973: 341; no. 2916) and syntypes (incorrectly indicated as holotype and paratypoid) from Corral, Valparaíso and Valdivia are preserved in the ZMH (Weidner 1960: 62)”.

Collection remarks. All specimens were collected by Wilhelm Michaelsen during his expedition to the southern tip of South America 1892–93.

Taxonomic remarks. Considered a junior synonym of Pachymerinus millepunctatus (Gervais, 1947) by Silvestri (1905: 757) but actually a distinct species (Bonato et al. 2016).

Current systematic position. Chilenophilus corralinus (Attems, 1903); transferred to this genus by Attems (1909: 27).
