ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1865c: 201 (key), 203 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Alpibus Insubriae [Insubrian (= Lombardy, Italy) Alps]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (MZUF: Box 11): Platychyra Rnd. / fortis Rnd., Alpi / 524.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Ernestia puparum (Fabricius, 1794) (Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 295), junior synonym of Panzeria puparum (Fabricius, 1794) (Evenhuis & Pape 2020).
REMARKS: Rondani (1865c: 203) described Platychyra fortis from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens. We found one syntype in this study. This nominal species was described under the generic name Platychyra, which is an “unjustified emendation of Platychira Rondani, 1856 ” (O’Hara et al. 2011: 147).
