Description
1. Calyptranthes dardanoi Mattos (1990: 1). [Fig 2A, B; Fig 5A]
Endemic to the Atlantic Forest (Sobral et al. 2009). Previously known only from the State of Pernambuco (Govaerts et al. 2010, Sobral et al 2010), now recorded in States of Paraíba, Alagoas and Sergipe.
Trees or shrubs 3–5 m tall. This species differs by often having dichotomous branching, paniculate inflorescences, the calyx closed in bud and falling as a calyptra, globose fruit crowned by circular scars.
