8. Desmoncus orthacanthos Mart. (Fig. 4A, B)
Mexico, Central America, Caribbean, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Brazil (Pernambuco, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro), Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia. Atlantic forest, in disturbed areas, capoeiras and riverside (Henderson et al. 1995).
