Margarinotus (Ptomister) fenderi Wenzel. Both 1960

  • 1. Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, 2559 Puesta del Sol Rd., Santa Barbara, CA 93105, U. S. A

Description

Margarinotus (Ptomister) fenderi Wenzel, 1960

Margarinotus fenderi Wenzel 1960: 459.

Hister pluto McGrath and Hatch 1941: 69, Fig. 42 misidentification.

Remarks. Mazur (1997) noted this species as present in California, in bold, indicating that the record was reported in the original description of the species. However, Wenzel (1960) notes only that M. fenderi is closely related to a then-undescribed species from California (which I describe above as M. thomomysi). Margarinotus fenderi is known to occur only in Oregon and Washington.
