Hladiny lipoperoxidov v slinách a v plazme pri syndróme obštrukčného spánkového apnoe

SÚHRN

Syndróm obštrukčného spánkového apnoe (OSA) je charakterizovaný opakovanou hypoxiou a následnou reoxygenáciou počas spánku, čo vedie ku vzniku oxidačného stresu a následnej peroxidácii lipidov. Predložená práca stanovuje hladiny biomarkera peroxidácie lipidov u pacientov s OSA a u kontrol a porovnáva tieto hladiny zistené v plazme a v slinách s cieľom nájsť alternatívne, neinvazívne médium na sledovanie oxidačného stresu. Zistili sme signifikantne zvýšené hladiny lipidových parametrov v plazme (okrem HDL) u dobrovoľníkov s OSA oproti kontrolám, ako aj hladín lipoperoxidov v slinách aj v plazme, ktoré navzájom vykazovali signifikantnú koreláciu.

ABSTRACT

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) is characterized by repeated episodes of hypoxia and subsequent reoxygenation during sleep, leading to oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation. The present work determines levels of the lipid peroxidation biomarker in patients with OSA and in controls and correlates these levels found in plasma and saliva in order to find an alternative, non-invasive medium for monitoring oxidative stress. We found significantly elevated plasma lipid parameters (excluding HDL) in OSA volunteers compared to controls, as well as salivary and plasma lipoperoxide levels, which showed a significant correlation. Our results suggest the existence of increased oxidative stress in individuals with OSA as well as impaired lipid metabolism. The significant correlation between lipoperoxides in plasma and saliva suggests that in addition to plasma also saliva can be used as a medium for determination of markers of oxidative stress.
