World distribution. Chile.

Chilean distribution. From Antofagasta to O’Higgins region (Fig. 145).

Altitudinal range. From coastal to highland ecosystems (50– 2,000 m.a.s.l.).

Biology and notes. Thompson (1988) revalidated C. longirostre and considered C. concinna as a junior synonym of C. longirostre. This is one of the most common species of the genus, primarily associated with coastal flowering from the Coastal Desert province (Morrone 2014) and Mediterranean basin of Central Chile. This species has been observed visiting flowers of Cistanthe sp. (César Martínez. CSP record); Echinopsis chiloensis (Colla) Friedrich & G.D. Rowley (Dickson Jorquera, CSP record); Eulychnia iquiquensis (K. Schum.) Britton & Rose (Juan Contreras, CSP record); Euphorbia lactiflua Phil. (Benjamín Castro, CSP record); Fuchsia lycioides Andrews (César Martínez, CSP record); H. foliosus (César Martínez, CSP record); Nolana sp. (Rodrigo Castillo, CSP record); Oxalis sp. (Pedro Vargas and Chris Olea, CSP records); Oxalis gigantea Barnéoud (Francisco Santander, CSP record) and Proustia cuneifolia D. Don (Claudio Arancibia, CSP record).

Conservation status. LC; EOO = 136,631 km 2, AOO = 104 km 2 and 24 localities (or subpopulations).
