8. Genus Plectronotus Morse, 1900

Plectonotus is a Central America genus, characterized by body robust; first portion of median carina (lateral view) undulated, with a small pronounced pre-humeral ‘hump’ (Fig. 26); antennae with 20 segments; anterior margin of the pronotum (lateral and dorsal view) hook-like; ventral sinus absence; tegminal sinus presence only in P. scaber; tegmina exposed or cryptic; middle femur apical spine absent and brachypronotal specimens (Grant, 1955a, 1962). The genus consists of two species: Plectronotus scaber Morse, 1900 (Costa Rica) and Plectronotus excavatus Grant, 1955 (Fig. 26) (Panama) (Fig. 36) (Grant, 1955a, 1962; Cigliano et al., 2021).
