Tiramideopsis expansipes Cook 1967

Description

Tiramideopsis expansipes Cook, 1967

Material examined. OMAN 96-52. Wadi Taww, S of Halban, 0.60 m below sediment surface (in gravel and loam); UTM 0604748/2606459 (23‡34'N, 58‡01'E), 28.3‡C, 557 M S cm 21, 28 March 1996, 1” slide mounted in Hoyer’s fluid.

Remarks. Idiosoma L/W 610/420; dorsal shield L/W 550/340; genital field L/W 140/145, with six pairs of acetabula; terminal segments of the anterior legs strongly thickened (e.g. I-L-6 L/H 155/55); dorsal L P-1–5 37, 61, 27, 71, 32. This species was previously known only from the Maharashtra State in India. In view of the large geographical distance, the morphological similarity is remarkable: only slight differences are found in measurements. The generally minor dimensions of palp segments are probably due to the fact that Cook (1967) gives total, not dorsal L values.
