Ixodes fossulatus Neumann 1899
Description
85. Ixodes fossulatus Neumann, 1899.
A Neotropical species known only from a female collected on an unknown host.
M: unknown
F: Neumann (1899)
N: unknown
L: unknown
Redescription
F: Nuttall and Warburton (1911)
Note: Ixodes fossulatus is known from a single specimen described without figures in Neumann (1899). The same specimen is figured and redescribed in Nuttall and Warburton (1911), who note differences with the original account. Clifford et al. (1973) doubt the validity of Ixodes fossulatus, although we include it as valid here. The Japanese (Palearctic) record of Ixodes fossulatus is a misidentification (Yamaguti et al. 1971).
