Distribution. Western Atlantic—Brazil (Pará, Maranhão, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul), Uruguay, and Argentina (Barreto et al. 1993; Melo 1996, 2010; Bertini et al. 2004; Mantelatto et al. 2004b; Braga et al. 2005; Almeida et al. 2007b; Boos et al. 2012; Pachelle et al. 2016; Spivak et al. 2019).
Remarks. Previous records on the coast of São Paulo state include Ubatuba (Mantelatto & Fransozo 2000; Bertini & Fransozo 2004; Bertini et al. 2004, 2010; Mantelatto et al. 2004b; Alves et al. 2012b, 2013b) and Caraguatatuba (Braga et al. 2005). This species can be found associated with Schizoporella errata (Waters, 1878). Sequences accession number (GenBank): CCDB 50—16S (MF490206), COI (MF490111) (Mantelatto et al. 2018a).
