Ammatho (Conicornuta) convexa (Wileman, 1910)

Miltochrista convexa Wileman, 1910, The Entomologist 43 (567): 223 (Type locality: [Taiwan] “ Formosa ... Kanshirei ”).

= Asura cruciata Matsumura, 1927, Journal of the College of Agriculture, Hokkaido Imperial University 19 (1): 70, pl. 5, fig. 3 (Type locality: [Taiwan] “Formosa ... Horisha”).

Type material examined. Lectotype of Miltochrista convexa (designated herein): male (Figs 8, 15), “ ♂ Kanshirei, | Formosa. | 1,000 ft. | 16.IV.1906 | A.E. Wileman.”/“ Miltochrista | taiwana | convexa | Type ♂. sp. n.”/“Wileman Coll. | B.M. 1929.-261.”/“762 T +”/round label with a red circle “Type”/“ Arctiidae | genitalia slide | No. 5271 ♂ ”/ label with QR-code and unique number “NHMUK010604444” (Coll. NHMUK). Paralectotype: female, “ ♀ Kan-shirei, | Formosa. | 1,000 ft. | 17.IV.1906 | A.E. Wileman.”/“Koanania | IV.17.1906 ♀ ”/ Miltochrista | convexa | sp. n. | Type ♀ ”/“Wileman Coll. | B.M. 1929.-261.”/round label with a red circle “Type”/label with QR-code and unique number “ NHMUK 010604443” (Coll. NHMUK). Photographs of the holotype (by monotypy) of Asura cruciata (Fig. 9): female, “HORISHA | Formosa | - - 1917”/“ Asura cruciata ”/“-type | Asura | cruciata | Mats. 1927”/“Type | Matsumura” (Coll. EIHU).

Other material examined. Series of specimens of both sexes from various counties of Taiwan (Colls MWM / ZSM and NHMUK).

Remark. In the original description, Matsumura (1927) cited one male specimen, whereas the type specimen deposited in EIHU (Fig. 9) is a female.

Distribution. Endemic to Taiwan Island.
