WOMEN IN SCIENCE AND GENDER DISCRIMINATION

Description

Every year scientific and technological progress provides people with more and more opportunities for development in the field of culture, science and technology. However, is everyone in equal conditions? Unfortunately, even now we cannot say so. Science is often considered as a male-dominated field. Moreover, this statement is confirmed by researches.
In fact, according to the United Nations data, less than 30% of scientific researchers worldwide are women. UIS data also show the extent to which these women work in public, private or academic sectors, as well as their fields of research. However, we must go beyond the hard numbers and identify the qualitative factors that deter women from pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to truly reduce the gender gap.
