Description

The geographical distribution of the Pyramidula species from the Iberian Peninsula has been reviewed. We characterize the shell parameters that allow the identification of Iberian species: P. jaenensis, P. pusilla, P. rupestris and P. umbilicata. The presence of the latter three species is confirmed for the Iberian Peninsula. The distribution maps obtained show that P. pusilla and P. rupestris are two species inhabiting the Pyrenees, Cantabrian region, Iberian System and east and south of the Iberian Peninsula, with P. pusilla also present in Portugal. Pyramidula umbilicata shows a Lusitanian-atlantic distribution pattern, being restricted to the Pyrenees, Cantabrian region and north of the Iberian System, whereas P. jaenensis only exists in the south of the Iberian Peninsula.
