Corporate culture in the personnel management system: meaning, nature and relationships

Corporate culture is a relatively new and insufficiently studied phenomenon from a practical point of
view. But, despite this, employers are making significant efforts to form and develop it. To get the most
out of corporate culture development activities, the employer must have a clear and accurate idea of it.
The purpose of the study is to systematize approaches to the essence of corporate culture to formulate
practical recommendations for its development in the organization. Among the objectives of the study
are: defining the essence of corporate culture, comparing it with organizational culture, determining the
relationship with strategy, tactics and current activities in personnel management, the state of socio–
psychological climate, systematization of corporate culture and corporate code requirements.
The article considers corporate culture as a function of the personnel manager, the purpose of which is to
increase staff loyalty. At the same time, corporate culture is not only a function of personnel management,
but also has a strategic nature and is the ideology of company management. The effectiveness of corporate
culture is determined by a true understanding of the relationships and interdependencies between
corporate culture, strategy, policy, and current personnel management activities.
The article substantiates the absence of differences between the concepts of «corporate culture» and
«organizational culture». The socio–psychological climate as a component of corporate culture is also
considered. The conditions and requirements for the regulation of corporate culture are determined.
Therefore, the development of corporate culture is appropriate provided a correct understanding
of the relationship between it and the structures of the company. This will strengthen the company’s
competitive advantages, avoid unnecessary costs and make full use of the potential of corporate
culture for the development of both the company and its employees.
