Western Atlantic—USA (Virginia to Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Venezuela, Brazil (Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul), Uruguay, and Argentina. East Atlantic—Denmark, Netherlands, North Sea, France, and Gulf of Genova. Adriatic Sea. Aegean Sea. Western of Black Sea. Eastern Mediterranean. Western Pacific— Japan (Powers 1977; Lemaitre 1981; Bertini et al. 2004; Almeida & Coelho 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Melo 2010; Diez & Jover 2015; Sousa et al. 2015; Spivak et al. 2019).
Remarks. Previous records in São Paulo include Ubatuba (Bertini et al. 2004) and Santos-São Vicente estuary and bay complex (Pita et al. 1985; Sant’Anna et al. 2012). Sequences accession number (GenBank): CCDB 3242— 16S (JX123477), COI (JX123453) (Zupolini et al. 2017).
