Bathypogon ichthyurus Hull 1958

Description

Bathypogon ichthyurus Hull, 1958d: 187 (Fig. 5)

Holotype ♂ Label data: Holotype Bathypogon ichthyurus Hull // L. Callabonna / A. Zietz [Aquisition No.: SAMA Database No 29-001180]

Condition: Poor. Head: head largely intact, but partially severed from thorax; only postpedicel of right antennae missing. Thorax: largely intact, but all thoracic setae on left side broken off at various heights. Wings: intact. Legs: left mid leg missing, except for trochanter and femur; apical four segments of right mid tarsi missing. Abdomen: only basal 7 segments of abdomen present, with balsam replacing most of 3 rd segment. Genitalia: missing.

[Author’s Note: the species name, handwritten presumably by Dr. Hull, is spelled ‘icthyurus’; additionally, in the publication (Hull 1958d: 188) no mention is made on the label or in the publication concerning the State in which Lake Callabonna is located. It is South Australia.]
