Saropogon platynotus (Loew, 1847): 443, type locality: Makri und Patara [Turkey], Engel 1930: 464; Richter 1964: 341 (Transcaucasia); 1968: 137 (Armenia, Azerbaijan); 1969: 519; Lehr 1988: 264; Ghahari et al. 2007: 4; Mohammadi et al. 2017: 252; Fidalgo & van den Broek 2019: 9.

Diagnosis. Body length 9.0–15.0 mm. Mystax white. Palpus with black setae. Postocular macrosetae yellowish. Lower occipital setae black. Scape and pedicel reddish yellow, postpedicel black, reddish yellow at base. Scutum with yellow setae; macrosetae yellow, black or mixed. Scutellum with 6 black apical macrosetae. Anepisternum silvery tomentose dorsally. Wings clear in male. Legs with short black and yellow setae, macrosetae mainly black, some of them yellow. Fore, mid and hind femora black, reddish at apex, fore and mid tibiae reddish yellow; fore and mid tarsi reddish brown, hind tibia and tarsus black in male. Tergites shiny black with black and yellow setae. Hypopygium black with black setae and macrosetae.

Specimens examined. No specimens were examined.

Prey. Andrena sp. (2), Halictus sp. (2) (both—Hymenoptera, Apidae) (Richter 1968), Ectemnius continuus, Philanthus triangulum (both—Hymenoptera, Crabronidae) (Ghahari et al. 2007).

Distribution. Transcaucasia (Armenia, Azerbaijan), Turkey,? Croatia,? Spain, Iran,? Tunisia.
