Description
FIGURES 13–14. Schematic plan of a nest and the immature instars of Leptochilus limbiferus. 13, an egg. 14, a prepupa in the nest (A, loose soil; B, prey feces; C, gravel particles; D, meconium; E, inner layer of the cocoon; F, outer layer of the cocoon; G, middle layers of the cocoon; H, a tiny shell; I, bonded soil). For clarity, the inner and the outer cocoon layers are shown as detached from the cell walls, whereas in reality they tightly adhere to them in most part of the outer shell walls and on the inner surface of the nest plug.
