Firmothrips firmus (Uzel)

Oxythrips firma Uzel, 1895: 138.

The genus Firmothrips includes a single species, and this is widespread in the Palaearctic Region (Milab-balou et al., 2014; Zhang et al., 2018). Wang et al. (2019) suggested this genus might be sister group of Kakothrips. Abdominal tergites V–VII of firmus lack ctenidia, and tergite VIII is often with no or very weak ctenidia.

Specimens examined. JAPAN, Hokkaido: Asahikawa-shi, Chikabumi, 3 females on Vicia cracca [Fabaceae], 14.vii.2006, T. Nonaka (TUA). BOHEMIA: 5 females, unknown details of data, Uzel (NHM). CZECHOSLOVAKIA: Slovakia, 1 female on Vicia cracca, 30.v.1964, V. F. Eastop (NHM). SWEDEN: NN. Rada Sin, Sjögeränd, 1 male on Potentilla erecta [Rosaceae], U. Qvick, 9.vi.1974 (NHM).
