Peckhamia montana (Bryant, 1943) comb. nov.

Descanso montanus Bryant, 1943: 480, pl. 4, fig. 40. (Holotype ³: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Cordillera Central, Constanza to Jarabacoa, leg. Philip J. Darlington, Jr., 1–31.VII.1938, IZ-MCZ 22182 —examined)

Diagnosis. Peckhamia montana comb. nov. (Fig. 54) can be distinguished from other congeners by the male palp with the rR reduced, separated by three times the height of the pdR, and the RTA very short and very wide at the base.

Description. Male (Holotype, IZ-MCZ 21371). Coloration (in alcohol): Carapace dark brown, black in interocular region and black between anterior and lateral eyes, with scattered white scales. Chelicerae, endites and labium brown. Leg I brown; leg II–III yellow with brown, tarsus white, metatarsus brown; leg IV brown with tibia and patella yellow with brown. Abdomen ventrally brown; dorsally brown. Total length 3.58. Carapace 1.62 long, 1.02 wide at position of PLE, 0.71 high, 0.69 times wider than high, flat from AME to PLE, then with soft descent to inconspicuous groove just behind PLE; carapace 0.55 times longer than OQ. AER 0.87 wide, PER 0.99 wide. OQ length 0.87, slightly longer than wide. Clypeus 0.18 high and with white scales. Sternum longer than wide, 1.02 long, 0.45 wide. Abdomen 1.86 longer than wide. Leg formula 4123, leg I: femur 0.84 long; patella 0.48 long, enlarged, with patella somewhat flattened dorsally; femur wide dorsally. Palpal structure as in Figs 54–55: femur straight, longer than patella+tibia; RTA shorter, three times wider at base than at tip (Fig. 55); embolus pdR as long as pbR; rR reduced and separated by three times height of pdR.

Distribution. Only known from the type locality (Fig. 56).
