Lectotype (Jeffrey, Cucurbitaceae Eastern Asia: 20. 1980): [icon] " Melo variegatus, Aurantii figura, odoratissimus " in Dillenius, Hort. Eltham. 2: 223, t. 177, f. 218. 1732. - Typotype: Herb. Dillenius (OXF).

Current name: Cucumis melo L. (Cucurbitaceae).
