Torilis leptophylla Rchb.

  • 1. Department of Botany, Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London, UK

Description

Caucalis leptophylla Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 242. 1753.

"Habitat in Gallia, Italia." RCN: 1942.

Type not designated.

Original material: Herb. Burser XIV(2): 55 (UPS); [icon] in Colonna, Ekphr.: 96, 97. 1606.

Current name: Torilis leptophylla (L.) Rchb. f. (Apiaceae).

Note: There are some difficulties with this name. While usually applied to a species of Torilis, the diagnosis suggests a true Caucalis, as do the associated Burser material and cited Colonna element. The name may be in need of conservation with a conserved type.
