Description

Carex dioica Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 972. 1753.

"Habitat in Europae pratis humidis." RCN: 7054.

Lectotype (Egorova in Cafferty & Jarvis in Taxon 53: 178. 2004): [icon] " Cyperoides parvum, caulibus, & foliis tenuissimis, triangularibus, spica subrotunda, capsulis oblongis, in angustum collum, vix bifidum attenuatis " in Micheli, Nov. Pl. Gen.: 56, t. 32, f. 2. 1729. - Epitype (Egorova in Cafferty & Jarvis in Taxon 53: 178. 2004): England. North Yorkshire, Dentdale, small stony flush low on Weather Ling Hill to northwest of road, ca. 1,000ft, N 53/68, 8 Jun 1968, G. Halliday s.n. (LE).

Current name: Carex dioica L. (Cyperaceae).

Note: Egorova (l.c) gives a review of the typification of this name.
