Description

Antholyza aethiopica Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 10, 2: 863. 1759.

["Habitat in Aethiopia."] Sp. Pl., ed. 2, 1: 54 (1762). RCN: 312.

Lectotype (de Vos in S. African J. Bot. 51: 256. 1985): Herb. Linn. No. 60.3 (LINN).

Current name: Chasmanthe aethiopica (L.) N.E. Br. (Iridaceae).

Note: Goldblatt & al. (Crocosmia Chasmanthe: 14, 53. 2004) give some historical background, and (p. 50) follow de Vos as to type.
