Description

Amaryllis ciliaris Linnaeus, Species Plantarum, ed. 2, 1: 422. 1762, nom. illeg.

"Habitat in Aethiopia." RCN: 2340.

Replaced synonym: Amaryllis guttata L. (1753).

Neotype (Müller-Doblies & Müller-Doblies in Feddes Repert. 105: 357. 1994): South Africa. Cape, Worcester, Chavonnes, near railway station, 14 Mar 1979, U. & D. Müller-Doblies 79132a (K; iso- B, BTU, M, MO, PRE, S, Z).

Current name: Boophone guttata (L.) Herb. (Liliaceae / Amaryllidaceae).

Note: A superfluous name for Amaryllis guttata L. (1753).
