Description
Lychnis alpina Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 436. 1753.
"Habitat in Alpibus Lapponicis, Helveticis, Sibiricis, Pyrenaicis." RCN: 3391.
Lectotype (Ikonnikov in Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast. 24: 81. 1987): Herb. Linn. No. 602.3 (LINN).
Current name: Silene suecica (Lodd.) Greuter & Burdet (Caryophyllaceae).
Note: Jonsell & Jarvis (in Nordic J. Bot. 14: 157. 1994) designated a Lapland specimen in Paris No. 158, LAPP) as lectotype, but their choice is pre-dated by that of Ikonnikov.
