Pectis ciliaris Linnaeus 1759

  • 1. Department of Botany, Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London, UK

Description

Pectis ciliaris Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 10, 2: 1221. 1759.

["Habitat in America."] Sp. Pl., ed. 2, 2: 1250 (1763). RCN: 6425.

Lectotype (Keil in Taxon 34: 284. 1985): Browne, Herb. Linn. No. 1011.1 (LINN).

Current name: Pectis ciliaris L. (Asteraceae).

Note: Although P. ciliaris was designated as generitype by Britton & Brown (Ill. Fl. N. U. S., ed. 2, 3: 514. 1913), Keil (in Taxon 34: 283. 1985) argued that this choice conflicts with the generic description, and that P. linifolia is the generitype.
