Description

Trilix lutea Linnaeus, Mantissa Plantarum Altera: 247. 1771.

"Habitat Carthagenae Americes." RCN: 3815.

Type not designated.

Original material: none traced.

Generitype of Trilix Linnaeus.

Current name: Prockia crucis L. (Flacourtiaceae).

Note: Sleumer (Fl. Neotropica 22: 68. 1980) indicated unseen Mútis material at MA as holotype. Such material would not have been seen by Linnaeus and would not be original material for the name. However, if this material exists (it is unclear from Sleumer’s statement if he knew it to exist or if he merely hoped it might be found at MA), it should be accepted as a neotype in accordance with Art. 9.8.
