Description

Basella rubra Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 272. 1753.

Lectotype (Verdcourt in Milne-Redhead & Polhill, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Basellaceae: 2. 1968): Herb. Hermann 5: 207, No. 119 [icon] (BM).

Generitype of Basella Linnaeus (vide Hitchcock, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 143. 1929).

Current name: Basella alba L. (Basellaceae).
