Myrtus pimenta Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 472. 1753.

Lectotype (Landrum, Fl. Neotropica 45: 83. 1986): [icon] " Myrtus arborea, foliis laurinis, aromatica " in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 2: 76, t. 191, f. 1. 1725. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 6: 78 (BM-SL).

Current name: Pimenta dioica (L.) Merr. (Myrtaceae).
