Description

Melastoma laevigatum Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 10, 2: 1022. 1759.

["Habitat in America."] Sp. Pl., ed. 2, 1: 560 (1762). RCN: 3076.

Lectotype (Fawcett & Rendle, Fl. Jamaica 5: 374. 1926): Browne, Herb. Linn. No. 559.10 (LINN).

Current name: Miconia laevigata (L.) D. Don (Melastomataceae).

Note: Specific epithet spelled “laevigata” in the protologue.
