Lectotype (Clement in Contr. Gray Herb. 180: 49. 1957): Herb. Linn. No. 870.20 (LINN).
Current name: Malvella sherardiana (L.) Fryxell (Malvaceae).
Note: Specific epithet spelled “scherardiana” in the protologue.
