Lectotype (Danin in Davis, Fl. Turkey 5: 368. 1975): Herb. Burser XXI 44 (UPS).
Generitype of Onopordum Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 179. 1929).
Current name: Onopordum acanthium L. (Asteraceae).
