Lectotype (Straley in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 64: 415. 1978 [1977]): [icon] " Oenothera, foliis radicalibus ovatis caulinis lanceolatis obtusis, capsulis ovatis sulcatis" in Miller, Fig. Pl. Gard. Dict. 2: 125, t. 188. 1757.
Current name: Oenothera perennis L. (Onagraceae).
