Description

Fucus tendo Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 1162. 1753.

RCN: 8300, 8332.

Lectotype (Irvine in Spencer & al. in Taxon, in press): [icon] " Fucus Indicus, teres, setam piscatoriam referens, longissimus" in Plukenet, Phytographia: t. 184, f. 3. 1692; Almag. Bot.: 160. 1696.

Note: The application of this name is uncertain but is thought to relate to an animal substance (see Spencer & al. in Taxon, in press).
