Opilioacarus aenigmus Dunlop et al. 2008: 65–66, figs. 1–5 (original description)

Holotype: RUSSIA. The fossil described here derives from the Wunderlich collection (F1882/BB/AC/CJW) and will eventually be transferred either to the Senckenberg Museum (Frankfurt am Main) or the Ĝrlitz Museum.

Distribution: Baltic amber, exact locality not recorded, but probably from the vicinity of Kaliningrad, Baltic coast of Russia. It is generally dated at Palaeogene (Eocene), with an approximate age of 45–50 Ma.

Etymology: Named after the unresolved questions about its identity as an Opilioacarus or Neocarus.
